Hello! And Also One of my Favorite Photos
Nelly is one of the family dogs— she’s an absolute bundle of chaotic energy, and I love her dearly for it. In this photo she is staring off screen at a treat, only moments away from leaping for it.
Hello readers!
I'm Dylan, the photographer behind The Unposed. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share the philosophy that guides everything I do here. I believe that the best moments, the ones truly worth capturing, aren’t staged.
I started out chasing storms, running around in the dark and rain to capture lightning and cloud formations. (It was 2020; we all found strange new hobbies!) Over the next few years, I immersed myself in learning the craft. My pivot point was my cat, Zoro. The challenge and joy of capturing his distinct personality hooked me instantly. Slowly, I traded the drama of storms for the quieter, wonderful chaos of animals.
The thing that I love so much about animals is exactly what makes them so much fun to work with: you can’t ever really tell them what to do. That means that every session is unique. Even with an animal I’ve photographed a hundred times, I always get to discover something new. My goal is to capture that distinctive unpredictability and the relationship between the human and animal, or even between people. That’s the sort of authenticity that makes photography worth doing.
